NOTES & TRIVA

This is the only Western ever to win the Best Picture Oscar.

The Writing Adaptation award went to Howard Estabrook and the Art Direction award went to Max Ree.

The scene of thousands of wagons racing over millions of acres to claim their own patch of land is still memorable.

Remade in 1960.

The role of Yancy Cravat was played by Richard Dix, who was a popular star of the day and into the forties. Irene Dunne (a relative newcomer) played his wife.
