A Hard Day's Night tells the fictional story
of the trials, thrills, hardships of the fab four and recreates
the excitement of the Beatle's early days.
This black and white classic is a well-paced,
witty and comedic, 90 minute story of their adventures, and experiences
that surround a T'V show appearance. Along for the ride is Paul's
grandfather (Wilfrid Bozambell), who is described as "being
clean," as "being a king mixer" and a lady's man,
who likes to become engaged, which often makes him the target
of breech of promise suits. One knows that this character will
cause mischief along the way. The chemistry, camaraderie and humor
among the Beatles, and supporting actors, plus a clever, humorous
script makes this film very entertaining and enlightens us by
giving a glimpse of the Beatles' personalities as well.
Their music is cleverly weaved in and out of
the story plot, so the whole film flows along nicely."Having
viewed this award winning classic, one can hardly dispute that
this film established the format for the musical videos that today
are standard visual vehicles for pop and rock artists."
Over the years, A Hard Day's Night holds up very
well, and entertains as much as it did when it was made. Some
find it "a time tripping event" that brings to mind
the happy innocence of Beatlemania. Others viewing this masterpiece
for the first time, will discover a rare treat, a delightful treasure
that shines as a unique group showcase film.
