PLOT SUMMARY...
Captain Kirk ends up on an alien world, pitted against a reptilian creature in a life and death battle.

QUICK SCAN...
This episode features an unusual alien for Classic "Trek". The alien Gorn that Kirk is fighting is played by a guy in a rubber monster suit, not Trek's usual approach to alien life forms. Alert viewers may find the voice of the Metron, the alien responsible for the conflict, familiar. That's because Vic Perrin, responsible for the voice, also was the famous 'Control Voice' on "The Outer Limits".

SYNOPSIS...
The Enterprise shows up at the planet, Cestus lll, whose Federation outpost has been destroyed by aliens. Kirk and gang pursue the alien ship, responsible for the destruction.

Before long, both the Enterprise and the ship it's pursuing end up in a region of previously unexplored space. Kirk and the alien captain are snatched off their respective ships and placed on an alien world, where they are pitted against each other in a battle only one is supposed to survive.

Kirk eventually gets the better of the alien reptile guy. When Kirk chooses to spare the alien's life, the battle is over and Kirk is returned to the Enterprise.
